CUT-A-DOR 1.2.1 — RECOVERY KIT
Current identity FM-1_7010201; manufacturer return image Original V15 / FM-1_015.
This kit contains current firmware, original recovery firmware, corresponding
source and rescue tools. It is not a backup of personal music and has no automatic
rollback slot. Keep .cadp projects with all of their .cadb sound banks.

BEFORE INSTALLING
1. Keep the Recovery Kit on your computer, separately from the website.
2. Save personal factory sounds/settings with the manufacturer's available
export tools, or document them manually. A factory .fwsc is not that backup.
3. Use desktop Chrome or Edge and a USB DATA cable. Close the editor, other
MIDI apps and other installer tabs. Connect only one FM-1, directly by USB.
4. Use the website's Install / Rescue page or the local website launcher.
The installer first checks the package SHA-256. DETECT FM-1 only queries
identity; it does not send an upgrade command.
5. Choose Cut-A-Dor 1.2.1, read the acknowledgement, then press INSTALL CUT-A-DOR.
Keep power, cable and tab connected until restart and identity confirmation.
6. Expected Cut-A-Dor identity: FM-1_7010201. Begin at low master volume.
Check sound, buttons, knobs, save/reboot and MIDI before extended use.

NORMAL RETURN TO FACTORY
Open Install / Rescue, detect the device and choose M-VAVE Original V15.
The bundled manufacturer file has SHA-256:
db1642b2b6fa5c2cccb11ffd13878068bb28601678d3644049f99dc40e7edb8a
Package identity: FM-1_015. The manufacturer application may report a different
identity spelling. A mismatch is reported as unconfirmed, never as success.
Check that the original instrument screen and normal operation have returned.
M-VAVE's M-UPGRADE is an alternative normal update/restore tool:

IF THE DEVICE DOES NOT START NORMALLY
A. CUT-A-DOR SAFE MODE
The retained boot protection enters Safe Mode after two failed starts.
Audio stays off; the USB updater is enabled. Try restoring Original V15
with the installer. This path still needs an actual FM-1 test.
B. INTERRUPTED WRITE, MIDI LOADER STILL RESPONDS
Keep power connected. Save the installer log. Reopen the installer,
reconnect and resume the SAME target package. The page remembers an
unfinished target where browser storage is available. It restarts the
loader write phase and checks the reported identity afterward.
C. NO MIDI IDENTITY, CHIP UPDATE MODE AVAILABLE (MAC)
Read the separate Mac rescue instructions below. The browser cannot speak
to the chip's USB update interface. Do not confuse it with the MIDI loader.
D. NEITHER USB MODE IS REACHABLE
Stop. Keep the logs and a photo of the display. Seek hardware assistance.
No software route here guarantees recovery from every failure.

MAC RESCUE — LAST RESORT
Included: fm1_rescue.py, Original-V15.fwsc, RESCUE-MAC.command and its license.
The Python rescue implementation is the inherited FM-1 X0X community tool.
The launcher uses this bundled copy, not a freshly downloaded Python script.
Setup needs internet, Apple's command line tools, Python 3, pyusb and
libusb-package. The loader is downloaded from a pinned upstream commit and
checked against its known SHA-256. The tool needs administrator access for USB.

1. Extract the Recovery Kit to a writable folder you intend to keep.
2. Read the script if desired. Run RESCUE-MAC.command from that folder.
If double-click is unavailable, open Terminal, type `bash `, drag the file
into Terminal, then press Return. The assistant does not run this for you.
3. Enter your Mac password only in your own Terminal when sudo asks.
4. When the tool is waiting, connect and power on the FM-1.
5. It checks chip key / flash model, reads the whole flash into a local backup,
checks preserved areas, and asks before writing. Read the displayed result.
6. Only type yes if you intend to restore Original V15. Keep the cable and
power connected until the write verification and restart have completed.

The tool restricts writes to the application firmware area; it does not
intentionally overwrite the bootloader or device-specific upper flash data.
This is a recovery procedure, not a guarantee against damage or interruption.
Keep any fm1-backup-*.bin file and all logs. A dump is evidence and a backup;
this kit does not provide a generic one-click restore of arbitrary flash dumps.

BUTTON COMBINATION
While running: hold OCT- and OCT+ for five seconds -> CHIP UPDATE MODE.
During power-on: hold OCT- and OCT+ -> PANEL CALIBRATION.
Do not use chip update mode as the first restore step: it needs the separate
rescue route. Releasing during the on-screen countdown cancels the entry.

MUSIC BACKUPS AFTER USING CUT-A-DOR
Stop the device. In the editor, connect and use GET DEVICE PROJECT. This
downloads the device project directly. SAVE PROJECT saves the browser session.
Keep the .cadp and each custom .cadb sample bank together. Projects do not
include user audio. Device transfers are still awaiting hardware validation.
Restoring factory firmware does not restore personal project contents.

MANUFACTURER WORKBENCH CROSS-CHECK — 18 OCTOBER 2026
The official FM1 Open V13 SDK includes the exact same Original V15 file.
Our restore installs V15 firmware. The official Workbench also restores all
128 factory voices across four banks, replacing existing voices. It can restore
voices without reflashing when the device already reports FM-1_015.
See Hardware-Test-Guide.txt for the complete Original baseline procedure.

The Open firmware itself is NOT required before Cut-A-Dor.
