FM-1 / INSTALLATION & RECOVERY
ENTER THE DOJO.
KEEP THE EXIT.
Install directly from M-VAVE Original. Return to M-VAVE Original if you need to.
CUT-A-DOR 1.2.1 · RELEASECut-A-Dor 1.2.1: GLO opens SETUP for lights, glow, animation and splash; GLO again opens MIDI. Stop + short SAVE keeps these settings. Hold a page button for help; EDIT opens the drum mixer; HOME knob 4 is Master. PUNCH adds gain and attack with soft peak protection. Expected identity FM-1_7010201. Download the firmware file.
Export the device project before updating. Fresh projects use PUNCH 50. Keep exported .cadp projects and their separate .cadb sound banks before installing. Firmware recovery does not recover overwritten music.
Before your first install: download the Recovery Kit and keep it on your computer. Save projects and sample banks separately. Switching firmware can overwrite device project storage.

MEET YOUR FM-1.

Waiting for your preparation. No automatic installation.
Keep power, USB and this tab connected throughout the write. After restart, check the identity, then test sound at low volume, controls, saving and rebooting.

THE ESCAPE HATCH
LOST THE ROUND?
HERE'S THE WAY BACK.
This is a documented recovery path using the existing updater and boot protection. It is not a second firmware slot or an automatic rollback.
Choose a return firmware above.
Detect the FM-1, select M-VAVE Original V15, then confirm installation. No intermediate custom firmware is needed. Restoring firmware does not recover earlier project data.
Need the factory sounds too? This installer restores the V15 firmware. The official M-VAVE Workbench can also restore all 128 factory voices. Choose Restore original V15 there; this replaces all four voice banks. Open itself is not required for Cut-A-Dor. Close other MIDI tabs before using either tool.
Silent audio. USB recovery.
The retained start protection enters Safe Mode after two failed starts. Audio is off and the updater can respond over USB. Use the installer above. Safe Mode and interrupted-write recovery have been checked in software simulations; no guarantee covers every hardware failure.
Resume the same destination.
Keep the device powered. Save the log. Reopen this installer and use the same verified firmware. If the MIDI update loader responds, the installer restarts its write phase and checks the identity afterward. A missing loader requires the next route.
Use the separate Mac rescue route.
The Recovery Kit includes the inherited USB rescue tool and the exact Original V15 package. The tool checks chip and flash identity, saves a memory dump, then asks before restoring the firmware area. Setup needs internet, Python packages and administrator access. Read RECOVERY.txt first.
GET RECOVERY KIT ↓UPDATE MODE IS NOT CALIBRATION
Holding OCT− and OCT+ for five seconds while the instrument is running enters the chip update mode. Holding those keys during power-on enters panel calibration. Do not use the chip mode as the first recovery step: it may need the separate USB rescue tool, not this MIDI installer.
Safe Mode is part of the application and cannot cover every corrupt image or hardware failure. If neither MIDI nor the chip updater is reachable, stop and get hardware assistance. Upstream recovery documentation ↗ · M-VAVE downloads ↗
UNPACK THE EXTRA DRUMS.
The firmware includes 76 factory sounds. The 48 additional recorded hits arrive in three separate banks, using the existing user-bank space. After installation, close this installer, open the editor’s Sound Crate, choose DUSTY ROOM, VELVET CUT or BREAK PIT, connect the FM-1, confirm the selected slot and press SEND BANK. Repeat for all three. Then select USER BANK 1, 2 or 3 on the FM-1. This replaces existing content in those slots; save its .cadb files first.
OPEN THE SOUND CRATE ↗BACK UP THE MUSIC, TOO.
In Cut-A-Dor's editor: stop the device, connect to its MIDI ports, use GET DEVICE PROJECT to download the device project directly. SAVE PROJECT saves the browser session instead. Keep every custom .cadb bank alongside the .cadp file. A project file does not contain the sample audio. Bank transfers and device exports have software protocol tests; check your saved file before replacing a bank.
Before leaving M-VAVE Original, save any sounds or settings you need using the manufacturer's available export tools, or document them manually. The included V15 package is a factory firmware return image, not a backup of your personal presets.
